1. Reading? Reading. Reading!
Ahh yes…opening a good book. Nothing really comes close to the massive benefits that kids can get from regular reading. It exposes children to a broad variety of topics through both non-fiction and fiction selections, and improves their mastery of language. It’s also a very relaxing activity for kids and parents alike!
2. Family Day Trips
Family fun and learning can be found at your local science and history museums! Some of our favorite locations across the country include the Fernbank Museum, the Tellus Science Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, and the National Air and Space Museum. Make sure to follow your museums COVID-19 guidelines.
3. YouTube Videos
YouTube? We bet you didn’t see that coming! The truth is there are hundreds of educational YouTube channels that make learning fun. Some of our favorites include Mark Rober & Blippi!
4. STEM Clubs and Classes
A great STEM program should inspire deep curiosity and develop tenacity when it comes to problem solving. Very few programs manage to tick those boxes, so you will have to know what to look for. 5. Music & The Arts
All too often we try and separate Science and Technology from the Arts when in reality they are closely linked. The masterful artist and engineer Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), believed they could not be fully appreciated except in synthesis. Look for outdoor theatre performances, ballets, concerts and other activities in your community. We recommend an assortment of artistic experiences to better ignite the mind.
